Some of you might recognize today's song as the theme song to House. I remember when I watched the show for the first time, I was so excited that they used this particular song. And the music selections on the show never fail to make me happy. I've even heard Soul Coughing used. Today's song is also on my bad mood playlist. I have a playlist put together to help pull me out of bad moods which includes Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles, Elephant Gun by Beirut and many others. Here is Tear Drop by Massive Attack

Somehow yesterday I ended up watching LMFAO videos on youtube. This one in particular made an impression on me. These guys obviously do not take themselves seriously, but in this video they turn the tables on a very obvious music video theme for party rock music which is objectified scantily clad women. In Sexy and I Know It, they objectify themselves and other guys. It made me laugh, so here you go.

So I meant to post this song on Halloween, but it completely slipped my mind until today. This piece of music is the fifth movement of Symphonie Fantastique by Hector Berlioz. In this symphony, the main character falls in love with a beautiful woman, only to have his love rejected. In a state of depression, he poisons himself with opium, but does not use enough to kill himself. The drug causes a hallucination in which he kills his love and is caught and sentenced to death. The fifth movement takes place after his execution and he sees his funeral as a witches Sabbath.

As I've said before, certain songs/albums/artists remind me of people. This is a prime example. One of my friends in high school introduced me to this band, and he an I would listen to them pretty much any time we were in the same car or just hanging out. Every time I hear this song, I remember being in high school and riding to football games (we were both in band) or just hanging out at someones house.

I saw Wild Flag do a cover of this song last week at their show. Carrie introduced it by saying "This guy did a really messed song about this town (Dallas), but I'm not going to sing that one." At the time, the song was familiar but I couldn't place it until we were driving home. I think I scared my friends when I realized it was a Misfits song, and the song Carrie was referring to was Bullet. Anyway, here is She by Misfits.
